Privacy notice

Last updated July 2026

This notice explains what personal data we collect on this website, including when you join the waitlist for The Shareholders Board, why we collect it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

The service on this site is operated by The Shareholders Board Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17280222), whose registered office is at 2 Kensington Place, London, N10 3BY ("we", "us"). You can contact us at info@theshareholdersboard.co.uk. The Shareholders Board Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC187569.

This notice covers the waitlist and this website. Creating an account happens in our app, which has its own privacy notice.

What we collect

Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We use your email solely to send you occasional updates about The Shareholders Board, most importantly to tell you when you can create your account. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the signup form. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

The limited technical data described above (such as your IP address) is processed by us and our email provider on the basis of our legitimate interests in running the waitlist securely and preventing abuse. This is separate from the consent basis for sending you emails.

Where you optionally tell us which stocks you are interested in, or that you are an institutional investor, we use that to prioritise which boards to open first and to follow up about institutional access. Our lawful basis for this optional information is our legitimate interests in shaping the service around demand and reaching suitable institutional users. You are never required to provide it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Where your data lives

Your details are stored by our email service provider, MailerLite (provided to UK and EEA customers by MailerLite Limited, Ireland), on servers in the European Union / European Economic Area. If a provider ever needs to transfer your personal data outside the UK or EEA, that transfer is covered by a safeguard recognised under UK data protection law (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision). We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own marketing.

The optional information above (your stocks answer and any institutional or firm details) is stored separately, in our application database provided by Supabase, hosted in Ireland (EEA). The same UK and EEA transfer safeguards described above apply.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics (provided by Plausible Insights OÜ, in the EU) to understand, in aggregate, how this site is used. Plausible is privacy-friendly: it sets no cookies and does not build a profile of you or track you across other sites. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in measuring and improving the site.

How long we keep it

We keep your email until the earliest of: the date you unsubscribe, the date you ask us to delete it, or 24 months after you joined the waitlist if you have not opened or clicked any of our emails in that time. After that we delete it.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did with your data before you withdrew it. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

To exercise any of these, email info@theshareholdersboard.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

The community itself, including account creation, identity verification and any holder-status features, is covered by the app's privacy notice linked above. If this notice changes, we'll post the updated version here.
